Dear Embodiments of Divine Love,

Sai Ram!  On behalf of the North Central Regional officers, Conference Coordinators and Conveners I invite all of you to the 32nd North Central Region (Region 5) Sai Conference and Retreat, to be held at Camp Henry Horner, Ingleside, IL from September 2-5, 2022 [Labor Day Weekend] with much Love and enthusiasm. This year’s theme, <New Theme>

We hope to make an in-depth examination of purity on our collective journey to Divinity. This year’s retreat promises to be an inspiring, bliss-filled event with dynamic programs of interactive workshop sessions along with the guest speaker sessions. We are also planning for another fun-filled SSE Camp this year.

Sathya Sai Baba has told us to regard the Sai Organization as our ‘life breath’ and that it is our good fortune to be involved with it.  He has shown in so many ways how His grace is showered on us when we participate in the Sai Organization, including the annual retreat, with selfless love. The retreat is a golden opportunity to immerse ourselves fully in Sathya Sai Baba’s Divine Love, utilizing that to deepen our spiritual practices.

We have outstanding guest speakers this year with many years of experience with Sai and dedicated participation in the Sai Mission.  They will share Sai’s message of Love, His works, and their experience of His omnipresence, omniscience and omnipotence.  In addition, we will have an opportunity for good company (satsang) with each other as we imbibe His message and discuss how to practice His teachings as His devotees to secure His Grace.

Dr. Sunam Gyamtso Tenzin has been blessed with many Divine interactions with Bhagavan Baba from childhood, having been called into His physical fold in the 1970s. He was a student of Sri Sathya Sai Institutions from high school through his doctoral studies. He is a wonderful speaker and a versatile musician with talents in singing, composing, and playing on the harmonium, tabla, accordion and much more. Being musically blessed, he has been inspired to compose many bhajans which have become part of regular bhajan sessions at Sai Centers around the world. Sunam was instrumental in composing the music for many of the plays and dramas that Bhagawan wrote and directed for the students. He currently lives in Gangtok, Sikkim, India.

Dr. Surendra Upadhyay is a Honorary Professor and Consultant Ophthalmologist, UCL, London. Dr. Upadhyay has organized and led free eye treatment camps in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Russia, Bosnia, Zambia, and Kenya and in South America. He had the honor and privilege of working closely with our beloved Sathya Sai Baba and with Mother Theresa. In his volunteer medical service, Dr. Upadhyay says that he experiences that “service to man is service to God.” He has elaborated on the meaning of sacrifice as described by Sathya Sai Baba, is to love and serve those in need, without any personal reservations or expectations, to the best of one’s capacity. At the 2017 SSIO International Medical Conference, he was one of fourteen healthcare professionals and two volunteers, recognized by Dr. Narendranath Reddy, Chairman, Prasanthi Council, for their outstanding contributions and long-term dedication to Sathya Sai Global Health Mission and the practice of Sathya Sai Ideal Healthcare.

Aparna Murali feels very blessed to have been born in a Sai family- devotee parents and grandparents who came to Bhagawan in the early 60’s. Aparna grew up in the city of Chennai where she attended Sathya Sai Education classes. Aparna attended the Sri Sathya Sai University (SSU), Anantapur Campus, graduating with Bachelors in Science. She also has a Masters in Psychology. Aparna moved to the United States to pursue her second Masters in Genetic Counseling. Aparna currently consults as a genetics counselor in Los Angeles, providing counseling services for women whose pregnancy have been identified to be at a high risk for genetic conditions.

Aparna has been active in the Organization and held leadership positions at all levels- as Center devotional Coordinator and Regional YA Coordinator. Aparna has actively been involved with SSE since 2005. Aparna has taught all age groups and is currently teaching Group 3 in Glendale, California SSE.  She currently serves as the USA National YA Coordinator and Zone 1 YA coordinator which includes Canada, Israel, West Indies and the United States of America. We are making every effort to make the Retreat truly inspiring and enjoyable to all. It will be a very memorable experience for one and all, because of the variety of programs to address the theme, while allowing enough time for leisurely interaction with the rest of the Sai family.

We look forward to seeing you at the Retreat!

In Loving service of Sai,
